Thanks Dawn. I'm beginning to suspect that Jack either has allergies or sensitive skin. When he had the same problem last year we thought it was an allergy to the soap powder I'd been using to wash the vetbed in as the areas he's barbered are his legs and belly which of course are the areas that touch the vetbed. We swapped to Surcare and gradually Jack improved. And up until about 10 days ago he'd been fine. But I've realised that I had to use a different cage disinfectant and I had to put him on Megazorb a couple of weeks ago as he had a bad bout of diarrhoea and he needed to be on bedding that was easy to clean up. Ultimately I think that he must be allergic to one of these two things so I've put him back on vetbed and am using vinegar to clean his cage. I've ordered some Green People Soothe and Calm Baby Balm to put on his legs and belly in the hope that it will alleviate the discomfort he's in. Then it's just a waiting game to see if he improves. If he does then I've finally got to the bottom of his problems.

I hope that's what it is, it'd be such a weight off your mind.

Thanks you two. He's really miserable and sore today and I'm doing what I can for him. I just hope he feels better soon.

Thanks Dawn. We've got our fingers crossed that the balm arrives tomorrow so at least I can soothe his skin.

Well, Jack hasn't improved much at all yet and although we ordered the Green People Baby Balm on Thursday and it was posted on Friday it still hasn't arrived so I'm having to carry on with the GG Soothe Gel for now which I bought a while back but it doesn't seem to be helping. We've managed to get an appointment for Friday to see the skin specialist and I hope she can find out what is wrong. Unfortunately we can't see her any sooner as our car had to go into the garage today and will be there for at least a week we believe and so I'm having to rely on my dad, which I hate doing but I don't have much choice.
Ruby is still doing ok and I've stopped the barley water and cranberry juice so that I can see if her urine is alright now. Fingers crossed the squeaking and blood doesn't return.

Thanks Dawn. We weighed him this morning and he's gained 12 grams.....I know it's not much considering that I'm syringe feeding him but it's better than nothing and I don't want to risk syringing more food into him as I know he'll just eat less for himself.

every bit helps, 12g sounds good. if he can keep gaining a bit at a time it will be better for him. xx

Thanks Dawn. It is better if he gains the weight slowly, as in the past whenever he got a dramatic weight gain he'd get diarrhoea.
