I'm Amy and I'm named after my great aunt. She was always proud of that.  Just been re-reading this thread and I'd forgot to mention my middle name! It's Marie after my paternal grandmother. I love having Amy as my first name but I hate Marie! (no offence to any Marie's on here!) Most Marie's I knew when I was a kid were horrible and I just associate that name with them. |

This thread is too funny! My name is Robin...my parents couldn't agree on a name so I almost ended up with Martina Georgette  Even though my name is pretty boring and simple my children are not as lucky! ;D Oh the joys of being a parent!!! |

My names Genette. It's like Jeanette but my mum didn't want it shortened to Jean. Shame she didn't think about Gene! Genette was my dads idea but mum would only agree if they changed the spelling. She wanted to call me Lorraine! I'm glad dad won.
I was given the name Genie by a rugby team I used to play for and I've always liked it so thats what I use as my user name.
BTW - One of the vets at the practice I go to is called Orlaith and she is a fantastic piggie vet!

I was born Sasha Pamela Ward and then my mother married and I was names Sasha Pamela Clark. Last year, I changed my name to Sasha Clark Waters when I got married as I hate the anme Pamela with a passion. It's my mother's name and eh oh.. I don't talk to her, never have done since I was 12! Any Mothers out there want to adopt me?! ;D lol Sasha Oh it's a shame you don't get on with your mm Sasha, I will adopt you Aww bless you Mommy Dawn!! *big hugs* And sorry for the bad typing.. it was at 5am I wrote that... was it?! My names Jacqueline, Dad wanted Jackie and mum wanted lynne so they put them together. I didn't like the spelling of Jackie so being a rebelious school girl (about a thousand years ago!) I changed the spelling to Jacqui. My mum, who sadly passed last year had a great name ' Waveney'.

My mum wanted to name be after her friend Nicolette which would have been nice, but decided to call me Nicola because she didnt want to copy. Either way I'm Nikki until I'm in trouble.
Waveney is a lovely name, I've never heard it before. Sorry to hear about your mum =(

Well here's another Dawn. lol My full first name is Dawn Marie but I HATE being called
that so I go by Dawn and use Marie as my middle name. My mom worked with someone years ago who had a daughter named Dawn Marie and mom always said if she had a daughter she was naming her Dawn Marie. Here I am. :-)
I got the whole Dawn Marie if I was in trouble growing up. lol

I'm just Kelly - my mum was convinced I was a boy for the whole 9 months that I was baby John after my paternal grandad then I came out with the wrong bits to be John so dad named me Kelly after the Del Shannon song from 1961. (I'm not that old was born in early 70's though lol)
Bussell my name on here is the name of my new female guinea I got in Feb who 3 weeks ago gave me 3 new beautiful babies.

My name is Karen, my older siblings names start with I, then J, so I'm a K! I was almost a Christine-with-a-K, but my Dad had an aunt Christine who was very biased against anyone not of her ethnicity, so I was named Karen. If I had been a boy, I would have been Donald Robert Jr., but that's a long story, and I think Dad was glad I turned out to be a girl, as he never liked the idea of a Junior anyway!

My mother and her sisters had a tradition of naming all their children with names that began with the letter 'J'. My mother could not make up her mind what to name me, so she wrote 5 names on pieces of paper and put them in a jar. 'Jasmine' 'Jessica' 'Jennifer' 'Jamie' and 'Jane'. And so I was named Jennifer. ^.^

What a great post !! My name is Alexia. My mother wanted to call me Heidi ....can you believe it!? yep from the book the girl who lived in the mountains...lol....well Im pleased to say that when I was born (3 weeks early!) she heard on the radio in the waiting room the name Alexia and thought thats sounded nice, my dad agreed and that was that....Funny thing is my mum is german and my father is english - I was born over in Germany and she though that Alexia was english - so that when we moved I wouldnt get picked on for having a foriegn sounding name...haha.... but really the true origin of my name comes from Greece .. That said I love my name ....yes I got stick every now and again but it's great to be different. |
